Ken's Karaoke Software

For some time now, I have been using the excellent PyKaraoke software on my Linux computer to practice my singing skills, For a short period of time I even used it to run a Sunday night karaoke session in a social club that I was a member of. I recently landed a job as a part time Karaoke DJ in a local bar, and was using professional Karaoke software, which drew my attention to some of the limitations in PyKaraoke. I therefore re-wrote PyKaraoke to add the following features, the ability to seamlessly play CDG+MP3 and MP4 files, play sound effects such as applause, have a scrolling ticker on screen showing singers order, and an improved search. It will also automatically play background music or videos between singers, The Windows version can be downloaded here, to sign up to the email support group, send an email to

pykaraoke-subscribe@cb-chat.net

You can download a linux Debian/Ubuntu version here made using Linux mint 18, you can watch a short demo video here made using the Linux version, the Windows version is similar. YOU MUST INSTALL THE VLC MEDIA PLAYER TO USE THIS SOFTWARE

Karaoke Utilities.

My next project is writing some utility programs to help better organise my Karaoke music, there is plenty of stuff available for windows users, but nothing for us Linux guys, however these utilities will also work on Windows systems if anyone wants to try them.

KaraPair

This is a very simple Utility, all it does is go through your entire CDG/MP3 Karaoke collection and report any MP3 or CDG files it finds, that do not have a matching counterpart, I checked it on a hard drive with 80,000 files, and it found two that did not match, due in this case to an extra comma in the file name.

You can Download a Linux Version HERE, a Windows version HERE, and watch a demo video HERE.

KaraName

This utility will go through all your collection to check it complies with the industry standard name convention of “Singer” - “Songname”, any files it finds that do not conform to this standard are moved to a seperate folder so that you can easily edit them.

You can Download a Linux Version HERE, a Windows version HERE, and watch a demo video HERE.

KaraUtil

This utility helps you to edit your filenames to conform to the industry standard of “Singer” - “Songname”, it edits the CDG/MP3 files in pairs, and simplifies bulk re-naming, it will also work with none MP3/CDG files.

You can Download a Linux version HERE, a Windows version HERE, and watch a demo video HERE.

KaraDup

This utilty will go through all your Karaoke folders, and completely rebuild your music libraries removing any duplicate songs found during the process.

You can Download a Linux version HERE, a Windows version HERE, and watch a demo video HERE.

Note all my software on this page is released under the GPL3 Licence, which basically says do what you like with it, but if it kills your cat, or blows up your house etc, it’s not my problem, you use this stuff entirely at your own risk. Ken
